Visitors can drive on Highway 103 or a take a longer more scenic drive, known as the Lighthouse Route, on Highway 3.
From Highway 103 Shelburne is located at exit 26 and Lockeport is located off exit 23 or 24, also known as the Lockeport Loop. This 20 minute drive will lead travelers to the causeway to enter the Island.
Renting a car is easy from Halifax or Yarmouth. Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz are a few service providers that can be found in either Yarmouth or Halifax.
Bicycles and motorcycles can traverse the streets with ease as well.
Gas stations are located in the Town of Shelburne and on Highway 103, near Lockeport's Exit 23.
Shuttle Services are available in Shelburne. The Cloud 9 Shuttle makes stops in Shelburne, near Exit 26, at the Tim Horton's parking lot.

As the 3rd best natural harbour in the world, ships of many sizes can access Shelburne by way of Shelburne Harbour from the Atlantic Ocean.
Yacht and sailboat travelers can get direct access to Shelburne and Lockeport at either one of their marinas.
Cruise ship travelers can also visit Shelburne directly via a cruise ship.

Ferry service between USA and Nova Scotia, on the CAT Ferry is available.
Ferry service between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on the MV Fundy Rose is available.
Ferry service between Prince Edward Island (PEI) and Nova Scotia on the Northumberland Ferries is available.
Ferry service between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia on the Marine Atlantic is also available.
You can arrive in Halifax, Nova Scotia by train. Via Rail offers train services across Canada.
There is one airport, Halifax International Airport, located 2.5 hours away.
Tip: International travellers can find cheaper deals by traveling to US and heading towards Portland, Maine to take the NovaStar Ferry to Nova Scotia. Visitors from central Canada would benefit from traveling by roads through the US and taking the ferry to Nova Scotia as well.
